Our Story

“[These] programs helped students go from F’s to A’s, in test taking, test anxiety and SMART goal setting.”

BRAINSHi is the brain child of Hilori Campbell. When brain storming ideas of how to combine thirteen years of experience teaching, primarily in the regular education high school classroom, and my experience as a special education teacher in the regular education classroom, BRAINSHi was born.

I became a “later in life” teacher, going back to school as an adult with a family. After several jobs outside of education, then working as a special education aide for students with learning disabilities, I decided to go back to school to become a teacher. I went to Western Governors University. I received a Bachelor of Arts in special education. The degree has three areas of qualification: Kindergarten-Twelfth grade mild to moderate learning and behavioral special education, regular education Kindergarten-Third grade and First-Eighth grade. I currently have a teaching license, for teaching in the regular classroom for Ohio. I also hold a, “highly qualified certification,” in math and science.

In my last year teaching, I was teaching special education 6-12 online during Covid. Boy was that a challenge! I came up with all of the programs that I use here. Programs that helped students go from F’s to A’s, in test taking, test anxiety and SMART goal setting. I realized that every student learns differently, whether in special or regular education.

The idea behind BRAINSHi is that learning is an individualized task. It’s also an emotional experience. By combining education and social emotional learning, BRAINSHi is able to provide holistic learning through personalized test taking skills sessions.
