A license is something you can take an exam for driving something. A car, a boat, a plane. Yes, you need a license for these, but you also need to know the academics behind whatever license you’re getting.
There’s also an exam for getting your license to show that you’ve become an expert in your field, usually through a state board or university.
In either case, you need to know the content behind whatever license you’re going to get to become a specialist in your field. You can become a licensed nurse, a licensed doctor, a licensed Insurance Agent, or a licensed Real Estate Agent.
